A theme is basically the design of your blog. It sets up the way your blog is laid out. This includes the fonts, colors, and other design elements of your site.
There are many free themes out there that you can use on your blog. These may be great for you if you are just starting out. However, as you want to get serious about your blogging business and really start working your blog, you are going to want to take your blog design to the next level.
This might be intimidating and you might be thinking that you have no idea how to design your blog. You probably don’t know anything about coding and the thought of messing something up is so scary. However, there are people out there who can help you. When you are ready to invest in your blog, you can purchase a pre-made theme.
A theme is an easy, packaged up design that you just download right onto your blog. There will be instructions, and you can customize things some, too. A great theme will help you organize your blog, make it look professional, and give your readers an awesome experience when they visit.
You’ll have a more professional looking site.
I feel like having a quality theme installed on your blog is the best way to make your blog look professional. If you want to build your brand, build an audience, and have an authentic blog, a theme will be just the way to do that! Having a beautiful theme will show your readers you are serious about your blog, and probably know what you are talking about.
Your readers and visitors are going to gather their impression of you based on the look and feel your blog, so why not put your best foot forward?
You’ll have an organized blog.
My theme allows me to do so many things that I wouldn’t normally be able to do or have the knowledge to do. I’ve added additional menu bars, set up a standalone entrance page for my blog, and I love features such as my slider. My theme makes setting these things up easy and gives my blog a sense of organization and helps my readers find what they’re looking for.

A better experience for your readers.
A theme that is pleasing to the eye, easy to navigate, that helps your readers find the information they need is going to overall give them a better experience. When you readers have a pleasant experience visiting your blog, they’re going to come back for more.
What is the point of starting a blog if it doesn’t flow, is not pleasant or easy to navigate. You want a beautiful blog to be your home base online and a place where your readers can come and have a good time reading the content you’ve put out and feel comfortable browsing around. A theme can help you achieve all of these things.
Help When You Need It!
I personally use and love Restored 316 Designs. Her themes are beautiful, and her instructions for installation are simple and easy to follow. Plus, she also provides excellent customer service as well if there are any issues. You can’t beat it. Her themes run on the Genesis framework, which I believe is the one of the most popular frameworks for WordPress. The perks of going with Restored 316 is that you know you are getting a high quality design, that you will have detailed instructions on how to install the theme, and how to really dress it up and make your blog look great. Plus, you know someone is there if you have any questions or need anything.
If themes and frameworks have you confused, think of it like this- Genesis (the framework) is the body of your blog. Your theme is the clothes. Genesis gives you the basic structure and then a theme, such as one from Restored 316, makes everything pretty.
To wrap things up, I think a quality theme is absolutely a worthwhile investment for your blog when you are ready to get serious. There are many theme designers out there and I am sure you will find one that encompasses you and your brand that you will love!
